Maintaining good lubrication is a crucial part of maintenance. Regardless of the lubrication method used, the most important thing is to ensure that the lubricating grease is distributed promptly and evenly into the gaps between the chain hinges. Avoid using heavy oils or greases with high viscosity unless absolutely necessary, as they tend to clog the passageways (gaps) to the hinge friction surfaces after a period of use, often mixed with dust. The roller chain should be cleaned regularly to remove dirt, and the lubrication effect should be checked frequently. If necessary, the pins and sleeves should be disassembled and inspected. If the friction surfaces are brown or dark brown, it generally indicates insufficient oil supply and poor lubrication.
