Troubleshooting and Repair
1. Chain Vibration: Chain vibration is caused by a loose chain, excessive load, or one or more inflexible links. Solutions include installing a chain tensioner or adjusting the center distance. Reduce the load if possible.
2. Chain Tension: Chain tension is related to the slack side droop. For horizontal and inclined drives with adjustable center distance, the slack side droop should be approximately 2% of the center distance. For drives with the center line perpendicular or subjected to vibration loads, reverse drives should be used to tighten the chain.
3. Chain Plate Fatigue: When the load exceeds the fatigue limit of the chain plates, fatigue failure occurs, resulting in micro-cracks around the holes and eventually breakage. Solutions include reducing the load or replacing the chain with one of higher load capacity.
