Forged Chain
Product Overview
Drop-forged rivetless chains and heavy-duty forged conveyor chains utilize high-strength alloy steel links engineered for extreme material handling and overhead transport systems. Unlike stamped or cast alternatives, the continuous grain flow of drop-forged steel follows the precise contour of the component, delivering maximum structural integrity, impact resistance, and fatigue life under cyclical heavy loads.

Types & Configurations
Drop-Forged Rivetless Chain (X-Series):
Open-construction design consisting of a pin, two sidebars, and a center link; allows rapid assembly and disassembly without specialized tools while articulating smoothly around horizontal and vertical track curves in overhead conveyor systems.
Forged Scraper/Drag Chain:
Heavy-section solid links featuring integrated or welded flights designed to pull abrasive bulk materials through enclosed troughs.
Detachable Forged Chain:
Engineered for agricultural drives and low-speed industrial equipment requiring manual link separation and rapid field maintenance.
Materials & Construction
Alloy Steel Selection: Fabricated from medium-carbon alloy steels (AISI 1045, 40Cr) and case-hardening steels (AISI 8620) to balance core toughness and surface wear resistance.
Grain Structure Optimization: Multi-stage drop forging aligns the micro-structure along the principal load axis, eliminating internal voids, micro-shrinkage, and directional weaknesses typical of steel castings.
Heat Treatment Profile: Pins and links undergo induction hardening or carburizing to achieve a surface hardness of HRC 58 to 62 with a case depth of 1.5 to 2.5 mm, preserving a ductile core of HRC 30 to 35 to absorb mechanical shock and prevent brittle fracture.

High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Delivers high ultimate tensile strength without excessive dead weight, reducing overall drive motor energy consumption on long conveyor runs.
Multi-Plane Articulation: Pin-and-hole clearances permit complex three-dimensional movement through tight-radius overhead conveyor layouts.
Wear Surface Hardening: Induction-hardened pin-bearing zones minimize elongation during extended operation in abrasive environments.

Applications
Automotive Paint & Assembly Lines: Overhead trolley conveyors carrying vehicle bodies through dip tanks, pre-treatment spray booths, and baking ovens operating at temperatures up to 250 degrees C.
Bulk Material Handling: Enclosed belt conveyors, bucket elevators, and drag chains moving cement clinker, coal, grain, and wood pellets.
Sugar Mills & Pulp Processing: High-capacity bagasse and bark conveying systems where moisture, abrasive debris, and heavy shock loads accelerate mechanical wear.
Manufacturing & Quality Control
Forging Operations:
1600T hydraulic friction presses shape pre-heated bar stock at 1200 degrees C, followed by monitored cooling cycles to eliminate internal residual stresses.
Machining & Broaching:
CNC vertical machining centers maintain pin-hole center-to-center pitch tolerances within +/- 0.15 mm to ensure balanced load distribution across all engaged links.
Metallurgical Verification:
Optical emission spectrometers analyze raw material chemistry; metallographic microscopes measure case-hardening depth and grain size after heat treatment.
Proof Load Testing:
Every production batch undergoes a 33 percent ultimate tensile proof load test on a 100-ton horizontal tensile testing machine prior to release.
Pitch & Dimension Matching: Reverse engineering from worn physical samples or customer CAD models to match legacy European, American, or Japanese conveyor specifications.
Surface Finishes: Zinc plating, nickel plating, or high-temperature black oxide coatings applied for corrosive chemical or high-humidity operating environments.
Custom Attachments: Specialized welded flights, extended pins, or side-roller configurations built to match custom track profiles.

Selection Guide
Calculate Maximum Chain Pull:
Determine total conveyed mass, friction coefficients, and incline angles to establish the required Working Load Limit (WLL) using a minimum safety factor of 5 to 1.
Evaluate Operating Environment:
Select case-hardened alloy steel for abrasive mineral dust; specify high-temperature alloy pins for continuous service temperatures exceeding 200 degrees C.
Verify Sprocket Geometry:
Match chain pitch, tooth profile, and roller/pin engagement dimensions to eliminate chordal action and prevent premature tooth wear.
Determine Lubrication Strategy:
Specify dry-film lubrication for paint lines where oil contamination is restricted, or automated forced-lubrication systems for high-speed drag conveyors.
